HURACAN ALERT

Formal announcement issued by the meteorologists of the National Hurricane Centre when they determine that conditions for the formation of a hurricane could potentially affect a coastal area or group of islands within the next 24 to 36 hours. The alert is issued to inform the public and the maritime community about the location, intensity and displacement of the storm.
